What is the iPad Air?

Previous iPad models were essentially iterative improvements, but the iPad Air is a totally redesigned tablet and Apple wants to emphasise just how slim and light it really is. It uses a similar, but boosted, version of the brilliant 64-bit Apple A7 processor on the iPhone 5S and comes with Apple’s trademark Retina screen, but it’s the weight and lack thereof that’s the star here.

About iPad air

Pros

  • Very light
  • Robust and premium design
  • Excellent screen
  • Solid battery life
  • Consummate all-rounder

Cons

  • Storage comes at a premium
  • No Touch ID

Key Features of iPad air: 9.7-inch Retina screen; A7 64-bit processor; 469g; 5MP rear camera; Free iWork and iLife apps (more…)

Have problems with using MakeMKV to convert DVDs to MKV format on your Mac? The article will introduce the An excellent Alternative to MakeMKV-ByteCopy for Mac to do the same job on Mac for you.

MakeMKV for Mac has been considered as one of the best Mac Blu-ray Ripper apps. It converts the video clips from proprietary (and usually encrypted)DVD and Blu-ray disc into a set of MKV files, preserving most information but not changing it in any way. The MKV format can store multiple video/audio tracks with all meta-information and preserve chapters. A most preferable feature of MakeMKV is fast conversion – it converts as fast as your drive can read data, and takes about only 1 hour to copy a Blu-ray to Mac HDD comparing with 2-8 hours with other Mac Blu-ray rippers/transcoders. The MakeMKV for Mac, by any means, is a nice choice for BD ripping on Mac.

Do you like using MakeMKV for Mac to convert DVDs to MKV format on your Mac? If so, there is something important you need to know. The MakeMKV for Mac is incompatible with Mavericks very well and not supports Blu-ray discs. Got issues with using MakeMKV? You may ask the question: Can we expect a more considerable Mac Blu-ray ripper than MakeMKV for Mac?

Well, YES. The release of Pavtube ByteCopy for Mac lets us see alternative to MakeMKV for Mac- it has all the features MakeMKV has and does even more with less steps.

Pavtube ByteCopy for Mac Review – An Alternative to Mac MakeMKV

Pavtube ByteCopy for Mac
is an integrated tool with Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper for Mac, the old ByteCopy for Mac, and more favorable features.

It’s an easy-to-use Mac tool to backup files from Blu-ray discs and standard DVDs to MKV container format with multiple audio tracks and subtitle sincluded. More than lossless output, Pavtube ByteCopy for Mac is possible to recode the source movie into MKV/MP4/MOV/M4V video with certain video/audio codecs. It provides hundreds of preset output formats for you to convert the BD/DVD movies to compatible format for iPad, iPhone, iPod, Apple TV, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Kindle Fire HD, Microsoft Surface, WDTV, etc.

In a word, it’s an all-in-one Blu-ray and DVD ripper and converter to save. Give it a try and you will be in love with it.

Note: Currently you can’t edit videos by merging, splitting, trimming, cropping, adding .srt, .ass subtitle files, etc if choosing multi-track output formats.

Hot News! Added Steptember 17, 2013: Pavtube ByteCopy for Mac is upgraded! It’s now a much more powerful 2D/3D Blu-ray/DVD Ripper/Converter , and BD/DVD multi track preserver for Mac . It’s upgrade, but still $42 and free to try.

New features:

  • Added 3D profiles in Format menu. (Side-by-Side, Top-Bottom, or Anaglyph 3D in MKV/MP4/MOV/WMV/AVI)
  • Resumed subtitle output feature to Format menu.
  • Added chapter marker feature for multi-track MP4

Now you see the difference between MakeMKV for Mac and ByteCopy for Mac.

MakeMKV does lossless Blu-ray/DVD to MKV backup only while ByteCopy not only copy BD/DVD to MKV, but also allows for transcoding. The best part is that it transcodes video stream, audio track and subtitle stream separately . You can keep original video quality and meanwhile convert the TrueHD audio to Dolby Digital 5.1 audio when/if your device does not support 7.1 channels, or shrink the BD contents to videos with lower bitrate to ensure they are played properly on a slow computer or older media player. Like MakeMKV, the ByteCopy is also easy of use. Converting a DVD/ Blu-ray Disc is a simple 3-step process. And you can make it a 2-step process by a settled preference.

Pavtube ByteCopy rips Blu-ray in 2 ways, lossless copy and lossy conversion. In trial version lossless backup runs 7 times only; for loss conversion, a watermark is put on the screen. A full version is offered at $42. The purchase includes a lifetime license and unlimited upgrades.

Sounds even better than a MakeMKV alternative? Go ahead to try it out then!

How can I movie videos to iTunes on Mac

December 16th, 2013 | Posted by admin in Review - (0 Comments)

Do you want to sync MKV, VOB, AVI, MPG, Tivo, WMV, Flash Videos to iTunes on Mac for transferring to Apple devices? This article mainly introduces the Mac solution to put any kinds of 720/1080p videos onto iTunes.

iTunes proviedes a media library for iOS devices. Before you can sync music and movies to iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, you need to add your music, video, and other items to create your iTunes library. However, iTunes only supports limited video formats (files that end in .mov, .m4v, or .mp4), many videos can’t be directly streamed to iTunes, such as MKV, VOB, AVI, MPG, Tivo, WMV, Flash etc.

How to get MKV, VOB, AVI, MPG, Tivo, WMV, Flash easily syncing to iTunes? The answer is to convert these 720p/1080p Videos to iTunes compatible videos so you can transfer them to your iPhone, iPad, iPod, or stream to Apple TV etc for playback. Now let’s go to learn how to do it.

Do either of the following to transfer videos to your iTunes library:

Drag a file or folder from the desktop to the iTunes window. If you add a folder, all the files it contains are added to your library.

In iTunes, choose File > Add to Library, locate a file or folder, and click Open.

Download 1080p movies and TV shows to iTunes from iTunes Store

The iTunes now supports up to 1080p full HD video contents. You can add HD movies to iTunes by purchasing them from the iTunes Store or by downloading them from the Internet. Video purchases from the iTunes Store are delivered SD and HD. HD content is offered in either 720p or 1080p. iTunes by default is set to purchase, download, and playback HD content in 720p. You must change your local preference setting if you prefer to download, purchase, and playback HD content in 1080p:

1. From the iTunes menu, choose iTunes > Preferences > Store (for PC, choose Edit > Preferences > Store).

2. Next to “When downloading High Definition videos, prefer:” set your preference to 1080p. Click OK.

Depending on your computer’s hardware configurations, you may be unable to purchase, rent, or playback content in 1080p though.

Transfer 1080p videos/shootings to iTunes

You can transfer QuickTime, H.264 and MPEG-4 movies (files that end in .mov, .m4v, or .mp4) to iTunes and use them in a video-enabled iPad or iPhone and with Apple TV. Just drag and drop the HD videos to iTunes. But not all kinds of music and video are compatible with iTunes– videos in MKV, VOB, AVI, MPG, Tivo, WMV, Flash Videos will not import to the software. To convert MKV, VOB, AVI, MPG, Tivo, WMV, Flash Videos videos to iTunes supported format before you can add them to iTunes library, you need to get a Video Converter for Mac here.

How to convert MKV, VOB, AVI, MPG, Tivo, WMV, Flash Videos to iTunes

Step 1. Run the Pavtube Video to iTunes Converter for Mac, drag and drop source video to the program.

Step 2. Click on “Format” bar, and Choose iTunes compatible format for Apple devices.

Choose the iTunes supported formats in the “Format” dropdown list. You can go to “Common Video” or “HD Video” options to find what you like. I think MP4 format is better for iTunes.

But, here you are recommended to choose the Apple devices like iPad, iPone, Apple TV, etc directly. Find a suitable format under these Apple devices options.

Tips: For some advances users, you can go to adjust video and audio parameters like bitrate, resolution, channels, etc. Click “Settings” button you can go to check and change them as you like.

Step 3. Press on “Convert” to start encoding MKV, VOB, AVI, MPG, Tivo, WMV, Flash Videos to iTunes compatible video.

Step 4. When conversion completes, press on “Open” to locate converted videos. Drag and drop these movies to iTunes.

Now open your iTunes and then sync the converted MKV, VOB, AVI, MPG, Tivo, WMV, Flash Videos movies to iTunes library for convenient playback on Apple devices. In this way, you can enjoy your favorite MKV, VOB, AVI, MPG, Tivo, WMV, Flash Videos on your iPad/iPhone/iPod wherever you are.

Pavtube DVD Ripper for Mac (Requires Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks, 10.8 Mountain Lion, 10.7 Lion, Snow Leopard 10.6)

NO. 2. Magic DVD Ripper – Good

Magic DVD Ripper detects and imports DVD from optical drive automatically. If you have a DVD backup on hard drive, you can select and load the VIDEO_TS folder instead. Magic features adequate common video formats (MP4, AVI, WMV) for average users, but 32 presets are not sufficient for Android users, since there’s only 1 format for Android tablet – the Kindle Fire. As Galaxy Tab owner I would like to put DVD movies onto the 10.1’ tablet and I need a costumed format to ensure smooth playback on my device. Magic DVD Ripper failed to keep the original aspect ratio, and gave softer image. Magic DVD Ripper serves as a nice tool for copying and burning DVDs though.

Price: $35 (Windows or Mac)

No. 3 DVDfab DVD Ripper – Good

DVDfab has a comfortable blue interface, but it is not user-intuitive as Pavtube when it comes to operation. DVDfab DVD Ripper is good for those who would like to have external subtitles and 2 audio languages (MKV only), or those who want to rip a DVD to iPad MP4 and MKV at one time- this app queues up your conversion tasks and it pops up settings/queue box each time a chapter is selected (this makes the operation kind of misleading). There’re some presets for Android smartphones and tablets, and you’re allowed to custom your own format to utilize the screen of your tab. Overall, DVDfab is a nice choice for ripping DVD to MP4/MKV with multi-streams.

Price: $49 for one-year license (Windows or Mac)

No. 4 WinX DVD Ripper – Fair

WinX DVD Ripper seems smarter; you can whether load a DVD or a VIDEO_TS folder at the very start. However, the software failed to find the correct main movie when I did test with Chipmunks: Chipwrecked (2011) DVD, all it finds are extra movie trailers (e.g. Ice Age 4 as it shows in below sceenshot). Anyway, you should not expect much to a free tool. WinX support quite a lot of formats(MP4, MPG, WMV, FLV, MOV), and luckily I managed to find Samsung Galaxy Tab format which works for my device. Are there any other formats for more Android tablets? Unfortunately the answer is NO. WinX DVD Ripper failed to recognize the main movie during above test, but it’s still a good choice for those who hang on to freeware.

Price: $0 (freeware)

No. 5 Aiseesoft DVD Ripper – Poor

The Aiseesoft DVD Ripper is a satisfactory application to use when you need to copy movie DVDs to computer, rip DVDs to videos or audios of any format so that you can enjoy them on your portable device like PSP, iPod, iPhone, iPad(iPad2), Zune, Blackberry, Creative Zen, Apple TV, Xbox, etc. The software does a good job working out the presets for popular Android smartphones (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung GALAXY Note 2), yet not so good in terms of Android tablets- still lacking of presets to specific Android tabs. This DVD converter comes with creative editing tools, so you can customize output movies by trimming, cropping, watermarking, etc.

Price: $35 (Windows or Mac)

Trial Download:

In Conclusion:

Pavtube DVD Ripper is proved to be the best DVD ripper for Android tablet/phone. It ranks top on the DVD ripping application list for almost every aspect except for interface design.

Anyhow, hope this top DVD Ripper Reviews can help you fast choose an easy-to-use and yet professional DVD ripping tool. Now get the best DVD Ripper Program for You!

P.S.

1. Pavtube also released an advanced version- Blu-ray Ripper ($34.3), which deals with both DVD and Blu-ray Disc.

2. If you want to get multi tracks MKV, MP4, MOV videos, Pavtube ByteCopy (Window/Mac) can do!

Blu-ray movie sales rose 10% during in the first three months of 2011 – according to recent news from USA TODAY. Also increased are relative products, Blu-ray players, PS3, Blu-ray rippers etc. To protect the expensive Blu-ray Discs from scratching, more and more people are tending to make a backup of their Blu-ray collections. As an experienced user of various Blu-ray ripper tools, the author of this post is pleased to help beginners find their best fit. The following passages take a brief review of three top Blu-ray rippers: MakeMKV, DVDfab and ByteCopy.

Pavtube ByteCopy Review

You might haven’t heard ByteCopy- as it is released in 2011- but this is absolutely a top choice for those who wanna put Blu-ray to HD media players like WD TV Live and NMT A-210 for playback. So what can it do for you? Basically, the ByteCopy is similar to MakeMKV when it cracks and copied Blu-ray Disc and DVD movie to MKV. However, this app does not only everything (selection of forced subtitles is excluded from the “everything” ) MakeMKV does, but also converts/encodes Blu-ray contents. This feature is a lifesaver for HD media players, as not a HDD player plays 100% of Blu-ray features. E.g. When a BD movie is packed into MKV, WD TV Live can not read the Blu-ray subtitles inlaid. At this moment ByteCopy plays an irreplaceable role- it is the exclusive Blu-ray ripper that converts Blu-ray .sup subtitle to .sub without hurting video and audio quality. When it trans-codes and shrinks Blu-ray contents, CUDA acceleration is employed by default when possible.

Export file format: .mkv

Video: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, VC-1, MPEG pass-through; H.264, Xvid, MPEG, VC-1 encoded

Audio: Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS Digital, DTS-HD high-def, DTS-HD MA pass-through; Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS, AAC, MP3 encoded.

Trial and Download

Pavtube ByteCopy rips Blu-ray in 2 ways, lossless copy and lossy conversion. In trial version lossless backup runs 7 times only; for loss conversion, a watermark is put on the screen. A full version is offered at $42 USD. The purchase includes a lifetime license and unlimited upgrades.

MakeMKV Review

MakeMKV is a nice choice for those who feel like to make lossless copy of their Blu-ray and DVD collections. The software does one thing- converting the video clips from encrypted disc into a set of MKV files, preserving most information but not changing it in any way- and does it well. It is very easy to remove unwanted audio or subtitle tracks and pretty fast to back up a Blu-ray. The copying of Blu-ray Avatar took only 86 minutes. All video streams, audio tracks and subtitles are included in resulting MKV file.

Import source: Blu-ray Disc/folder/ISO, DVD

Export file format: .mkv (with original codecs)

To add- MKV (also known as Matroska) is a container file format, in which there can be many audio, video and subtitles streams, allowing the user to store a complete movie in a single file. Practically this means that it is possible to put entire movie with multiple sound and subtitle tracks, chapters and movie thumbnail into single file.

MakeMKV

Trial and Download

MakeMKV allows for a 30-day trial, and $50 USD is all you pay for lifetime Blu-ray ripping feature. Its DVD ripping feature always stays free, so let’s say thank you to the generous developer of MakeMKV.

DVDfab Blu-ray Ripper Review

DVDfab used to stand for an excellent free DVD ripper. Now we know they can do more (and ask for more too). DVDfab Blu-ray Ripper decrypts and rips Blu-ray title to various video files playable on next generation consoles like PS3 and Xbox 360, HD player like WD TV Live, or mobile devices like iPod, iPhone, iPad, etc. Unlike MakeMKV, it exports a lot of video codecs and formats:

Video: MPEG-4, H.264, MP4, MKV, AVI, WMV, M2TS, TS etc.

Audio: MP3, MP4, M4A, WMA, WAV, AAC, AC3, DTS, etc.

So you see the differences here. With MakeMKV you get lossless Blu-ray backup but only in MKV format; while with DVDfab you lose original Blu-ray quality but get much smaller movie clips in desired format. A preferred feature of DVDfab is their “Lighting speed”, i.e., multi-core CPUs and NVIDIA CUDA support. By taking advantage of CUDA accelerating, the conversion time is greatly shorted.

DVDfab Blu-ray Ripper

Trial and Download

Everyone can evaluate the trial for 30 days before it stops work. To continue using the software, you can buy a one-year license of DVDfab Blu-ray Ripper at $60 USD and $105.6 USD for lifetime license. If you purchase Blu-ray Ripper and DVD Ripper in bundle, it’ll be $93.5 for one-year use and $154 for lifetime. Pretty high price, isn’t it? Especially when you can get a similar Blu-ray Ripper at much lower price?

Compare: MakeMKV vs. DVDfab vs. ByteCopy

MakeMKV and ByteCopy are good for lossless Blu-ray and DVD backup, while DVDfab focuses on Blu-ray trans-coding to portable devices like PS3, Xbox, etc.

Q: Which Blu-ray ripper keeps Blu-ray movie structure (including chapters)?
A: MakeMKV and ByteCopy

Q: Which Blu-ray ripper keeps multiple audio tracks and subtitles?
A: MakeMKV and ByteCopy

Q: What about the ripping speed of the three Blu-ray Rippers?
A: MakeMKV = ByteCopy (lossless copy) > DVDfab

Q: Which en-decodes Blu-ray with NVIDIA’s CUDA support (GPU computing)?
A: ByteCopy and DVDfab (Tip: CUDA works only when exporting H.264 encoded videos)

Q: Which does better on Blu-ray hacking/cracking?
Not a Blu-ray ripper is able to crack all the Blu-ray Discs as decryption always falls behind encryption. So it’s a question of upgrade and tech support. All the three updates their software along with the come up of new BD+ keys. MakeMKV and ByteCopy charge free for updates while DVDfab asks you pay extra money for the updates.

MakeMKV and ByteCopy are similar, you can compare their features with Pavtube ByteCopy vs. MakeMKV (comparison chart)

The new iPad–not the “iPad HD” or “iPad 3″ as previously rumored–offers a higher-resolution Retina Display similar to that of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. It offers a resolution of 2,048×1,536. It’s the most advanced screen in tablet world. With this amazing screen, our Blu-ray movies will be showed as perfect as Home Theater. But, how do you put Blu-ray movies on new iPad? The new iPad doesn’t support external disc drive.

Apple advocates digital, the new iPad only can play digital movies, so what should we do is just change Blu-ray disc movies into digital movies. In this situation, a 3rd party software is needed.  This article will introduce you a top new iPad Blu-ray Ripper. Which is called Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper.
